Understanding Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
Several traditional pest control methods have been deemed harmful to humans and ineffective for combating pests, necessitating the need for pest management that is beneficial to human health and to the environment. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) represents an evolved and sustainable strategy to prioritise using natural pest control mechanisms. Its primary objective is to support healthy pest control practices that cause minimal agroecosystem disruption, thereby effectively minimising risks to human health and the environment.

Rules and Regulations for Commercial Pest Control
Government regulations provide a comprehensive framework that details the parameters for employing pest control methods in commercial environments. These guidelines are designed to ensure safety, effectiveness, and environmental sustainability. By adhering strictly to these regulations, businesses can effectively manage their pest problems while minimising potential harm to people, property, and the planet.
The regulations stipulate that the following practices must be followed:
Where the public or staff are involved, all pest control will be done through a registered pest control operator.
All premises that involve food preparation or storage are required to make use of pest control services on a monthly basis through a registered pest control operator.
Since all pesticides used for pest control are regarded as hazardous, a registered pest control operator is required to follow through with its application process.
PRO Pest Control is a registered pest control operator. Our operators are accredited by the South African Pest Control Association, registered with the Department of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries and operate in accordance with Act No. 36 of 1947.
